Odisha create all-loss record in Cooch Behar Trophy

Odisha created an ignominious record by losing all of their seven Elite Group-C matches in the Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Cricket Tournament for the season 2019-20. Odisha lost their seventh and last match by an innings and 48 runs against Assam at Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon today. The four-day match ended in two days.

Chosing to bat after winning the toss, Odisha were bundled out for 71. In reply, Assam made 227 and took a lead of 156 runs. Needing 157 runs to avoid innings defeat, Odisha folded up for 108 in their second innings.

Change of captain for the second time in the season made no difference for the Odisha team. New captain Surya Mohapatra, who replaced Manas Ranjan Nayak after scoring a century in the previous match against Uttarakhand, failed miserably against Assam, contributing only four runs in the two innings.

The only consolation for the Odisha team was performance of new wicket-keeper Manav Bhattachaya, who held three catches and efected two stumpings in the only innings of Assam.
